The University of Manitoba was established in 1877 and is one of Canada's 15 research-intensive universities. A stunning campus with a strong architectural identity, the university was seeking an upgraded look for the Dofoe Road thoroughfare and bus route through the campus. Cue Parkworks and our amazing partners Urban Accessories.

Working with design consultant Scatliff + Miller + Murray, the University of Manitoba carefully considered what they wanted to achieve in form, as well as function, throughout the campus. The renewal would see the addition of trench grates, tree grates, and custom tree guards to accentuate the vibrant roadway. Using the Urban Accessories product line, the design team was able to source modern and stylized streetscaping elements that elevated the thoroughfare and supported the surrounding infrastructure.

If you're asking yourself, "Can grates and tree guards really be a part of architecture?" Let's us answer... YES, they can! And in a really big way.

The team at Urban Accessories designs their products with architectural placemaking in mind. Playing with finishes, shapes and patterns, Urban Accessories has elevated the future of streetscaping design with bespoke grating products that are sustainable, durable and stunning. Throughout the university, these upgraded grates and tree guards add a timeless and clean look to the campus.
