Rotary Spray Park, Fort St. John, BC

Proof that splash pad refurbishments are the future.

There's so much fun to be had at Rotary Spray Park in Fort St. John, BC. Grab the waving antennae of two curious Critter cannons and take aim to spray nearby waterplayers. Use your hands and feet to cover the water shooting up from bright green Frogs and make them erupt with bigger and bigger sprays. Be surprised by unpredictable spurts of water popping up all around you and examine a Lily Pad that is misting water straight up in the air!

Inspired by the wonder and beauty of nature, this zero-depth splash pad sprouts to life with showering Water Leafs and a giant Dew Drop that, when filled to its brim, tips to unleash a cool gush of water on those waiting below. Clusters of dry Sand Stones and wet Surf Stones spray gentle mists of water provide a well-deserved resting spot for parents and children of all ages.

For this project Parkworks joined forces with our client to refurbish the existing Rotary Spray Park into a play space worthy of their growing community. In order to cover construction costs, the project saw generous community donations, government grants and a combined fundraising contribution of $200.000 from both the Rotary Club and the Sunrise Rotary Club of Fort St. John.

Double the size of its predecessor, the new and improved Rotary Spray Park utilizes more than twenty play features and ground sprays from Waterplay's Grassland and Wildwood product collections and illustrates the use of two age-appropriate play zones to accommodate different styles of water play.

To complete this smartly designed play space, a custom and visually stunning, low slip, recycled rubber aquatic play pad surface was installed, existing dry playground structures were revamped and shaded seating areas surrounding the splash pad were constructed.

The result is an amenity rich facility that will be well-used by the community of Fort St. John.
