Featured Project: Bellerose Park Playground

Committed to building thriving communities in their area, Sturgeon County has implemented several improvement projects for Bellerose Park, including a dog park that was completed in Fall 2023. In continuing with their improvement projects, Parkworks was brought in to help design and build a nature playground that would serve those from the surrounding communities who visit the park.  

Using KOMPAN’s Robinia line, Parkworks was able to create the nature-inspired playground that Sturgeon County was looking for and designed a beautiful space that will be enjoyed by families and children of all ages.  

Some of the features in this playground space include a custom play structure with a slide, a Birds Nest swing, a Crawling Pyramid, and more. Not only does Robinia wood add to the natural elements of the play space, but it also provides strong and sustainable play structures. Given that the wood grain in each piece of wood is unique and no two pieces of Robinia are identical, it helped create an exciting playground that is truly one-of-a-kind. Concrete borders, engineered wood fiber (EWF), and pour-in-place rubber were used to finish off the playground, pulling the entire play space together.  

The smooth installation of the playground sets the stage for what has become an engaging space within the community. The addition of the playground complements the pre-existing spaces like the dog park and walking trails, creating an incredible park environment that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come.
